Boston Dynamics Atlas Robot Walking The Gauntlet

Boston Dynamics has a new video out showing a robot they call Atlas walking the gauntlet.

These guys creations just keep getting creepier and creepier.

Boston Dynamics is in the business of robotics and they've created some of the coolest robots I've ever seen including the BigDog and LittleDog robots which I've posted about previously.

The above Boston Dynamics PETMAN Video shows an anthropomorphic robot that looks like something right out of a Terminator movie, apparently it's used to test special clothing used by military personal, surely that's not all they're using it for.

Walking With Dinosaurs, Costumes and Animatronics

Ever wondered what it would be like to really walk with dinosaurs? I was fascinated with them as a kid, I'd spend hours at a time trying to imagine the world of dinosaurs with complete clarity. The movie Jurassic Park signaled the end of that fascination for me as a kid, it just couldn't get any better.

Some 15 years later and the stage show Walking With Dinosaurs - The Arena Spectacular comes along and blows Jurassic Park out of the water. The costumes and animatronics are simply amazing, bringing us the closest we've ever been to really walking with dinosaurs... well apart from hanging with birds and crocodiles.

This first video fooled me, I actually thought I'd missed some world changing news or something, granted the link I clicked was misleading and the version I saw was rather blurry so I couldn't see old chicken legs there.

Pretty cool robot costume, if you've ever seen those dinosaur costumes you'll know what I mean about people being freaked out by them, same thing here.

LittleDog Robot, Even Creepier Than BigDog

After seeing the Boston Dynamics BigDog video, I didn't think it could get any creepier, but it has with LittleDog.

I wont get into the details to much, but I think Boston Dynamics is part of this robot to.

The abilities of this robot BigDog from Boston Dynamics are amazing, it moves just like a living breathing animal, minus the head though.

The way it walks through snow, on ice, up hills and over obstacles is simply amazing. Looks a little goofy when it slips on ice, but sure enough it's able to keep on going.

Shame it's purpose for existing is for a military purpose, I could imagine it aiding climbers, search and rescue teams, any number of peaceful operations.

One of the coolest robots I've ever seen, it mimics a real snake pretty bang on and even swims.

I can't believe how life like it is.

Real Robots You Can Kick

I like robots as much as the next guy and have watched quite a few robot videos, one thing that always concerned me was that the robots always looked like they'd fall over at the slightest hint of a bad smell.

Not with the robots in this video though, sure, they look clumsy but give em a good kicking and they'll stand strong.

I've never actually seen footage of a Robosaurus before, all I know of it is from "The Simpsons" Truckosaurus. I think seeing one live would be very impressive.

On another note I have never understood why humans have not yet created full on mech warrior type robot suits, maybe it's because there's not enough funding, probably.

Transformers On The Prowl - Stop Motion Fun

This makes me want to break out my old Transformers toys, haven't seen them in 15 odd years, maybe we burnt them, hmm. I'm getting a little nostalgic with the new Transformers movie on the way, I hope it's good, judging from the trailers it looks very action packed and violent, hopefully it ain't wussified.

The video below shows some stop motion Transformer action, I think made with the old toys, I remember looking at some of the newer range of transformer toys a few years back and I thought to myself "that ain't no transformer". Do they still make Grimlock ones?

Giant Puppet Walking Through Crowd

I've seen photos of the huge puppets before, but I had never seen video clips of them before, the giant girl puppet looks pretty natural while it is been moved around, I would have hope the the giant man would have been walking around as well.

Not much more to say, just pretty cool to see.
