Biggest Crocodile Ever Caught On Video

This croc dubbed Gustave is said to be the biggest crocodile ever seen in Africa, it's said to have eaten over 300 people and the small international team featured in the video is on a mission to capture it.

To me it does look giant compared to the other crocs and it does seem capable of taking down a hippo. I was so revved up for its capture, but I let y'all find out what happens.

  2. they should have shot the croc, it was a human killer. I wanted to know how big it was I thik that the record for the biggest croc ever recorded was 28 feet long. I wonder is gustave was bigger.

    1. no it was 34 feet they found a skull that took 4 men to lift it

  3. why kill a magnificent creature like this. Gustave killed whoever came near to his home, people looking for trouble.

You go sticking your hand in the fire, it burns, does that mean we should never use fire? NO!

If you're too dumb to realize that coming near that croc is a death wish, then you might as well get eaten ;)

    1. youre an idiot no shit these people realize it is dangerous its not like they have that much of a choice when it comes to living. its not like a first world country where you can pack up and leave its more dangerous out there with no water than b the river

      Delete
    2. No your an idiot its not a crocidile attack its a croc being a croc. 1st world or not we shouldn't kill animals because they are a threat.. btw who is more dangerous Gustav or Humans? its not even close

      Delete
    3. Humans by far are the most deadly thing on earth. We are more likely to be killed by other humans than anything else.

      Delete
  4. ^^^^ Dumb?

To use your analogy, if there were a fire burning somewhere that had caused the deaths of some 300 people, millions upon millions would be spent to put it out if need be. Tell your enviro sob story to the parents of village children who are currently piles of croc poop. You make it sound as if people living there, impoverished by our standards, have any CHOICE but to use the river for washing, water, and hygiene. Obviously, you've never traveled to the Third World. Just because something gets big doesn't mean that it has a magical, fairyland right to life if it's a menace.

What I don't get, though, is why the VILLAGERS haven't killed the bloody thing.

    1. Thank you. It's just an animal! & it's not above humans on the food chain or God would have not told Peter kill & eat. It's time someone showed sense!

      Delete
  5. I'd rather it was left alone, annonymous(one?)personally, or captured and placed somewhere else- of course, there seem to be people everywhere, and we always, ALWAYS, MUST think of the children.

It might be the last really big and dangerous animal of it's kind in Africa, worth keeping if for no other reason than to try to remember where we came from, that we didn't always own and (mismanage) this planet. Magical, fairyland monsters have ALL BUT DISAPPEARED. I'd like to see some kept. I've never been to the third world, either. It means nothing. It's too rare a thing to eliminate. In fact, by your own post, the western world is the menace. Let's kill us, instead.

  6. a fire and a croc are 2 completely different things. for one fire is not a living thing. So if you are dumb enough to play around crocs then you deserve it.

  7. i have seen a documentry on this crocodile on discovery
    the crocodile's name is GUSTAKH
scientists say that he may be 100years

  8. why argue about it dum-dums its really old &cool!!!!!

  9. whose to say the croc's life is worth any more or less than a human's life. just because we are the APEX predator, it doesn't mean we have the right to wipe out anything and everything we wish.

I feel terribly bad for the villagers, but in reality you just have to be careful around waters like that, and a croc that big can easily be seen, they don't swim for kiometres under water, they dive within site, so just get THE FUCK OUTTA THE WATER, and wait.

    ReplyDelete
  10. No, don't kill it. There are too few animals of this size left. You can't go killing and stuffing their bodies in the name of science. Thats stupid. Sure they have to use the water for drinking and hygiene. But there's a simple solution: use a BUCKET. Let the thing eat your buckets not your babies. By getting eaten you are only proving that Darwin was right about natural selection.

  11. You're forgetting the most basic of all instincts; survival. I agree, it's a miracle to see a crocodile grow that large in this age and time. But man is just as primitive as a crocodile aka dragon back in medieval times. In a world of man vs monster, if we don't kill the monsters, the monsters will kill us. So what do you choose, life or death?

    ReplyDelete
  12. i couldn't see the video

    ReplyDelete
  13. use a bucket? a crocs striking speed can be up to 70kmh...many who died were fisherman, the villagers dug and built out a place to keep this legendary croc...they didnt want to kill him...i really want to know what happend to him...

    ReplyDelete
  14. i dont think any of you guys know what your talkig about the river is a main source of survival for the villages they dont go there to sing an dance they go there for drinking an to wash clothes there not dumb there desperate!a crocidile is a master hunter you cant see it an you dont know its there! it use s every element of surprise to capture an destoy it prey in this case ths crocidile unts humans does that sound wrong to you ok i know crocidiles kill people but thats to survive i can understand that but a crocidile thats killed hundreds thats wrong!how about we catch it an put it in the nearest river where you live how would you fee about that?

    ReplyDelete
  15. Anyone who says kill it and doesn't bother to travel the few miles to see it is in need of a bullet. Is it too much to ask you scumbags to go and see it for yourself and talk to the ones who live in fear and see if they are as naive as are you? Kill yourself first, then lets talk about the croc. Stupid brainwashed tv led idiots, you probably believe there is a shortage of land in this world huh? You've never even been out of the big city and yet you think you know something, fools. Throw the tv out the window and get an education man, you're an idiot and you know this deep down inside.

    ReplyDelete
  16. I don't reckon they should kill it, like one of the anonymouses said its not often you get an animal that big, and after all gustave must be pretty old to be that big and hes impressive. so after all those years of surviving and being better than the other crocs people think "oh lets capture it!!!!!" wanting to get it because its a man killer is no-excuse to kill it just be wary and go to places he doesnt usually go.

    ReplyDelete
  17. maybe he has a little sister who is pretty and free?

  18. he did not get that big from being stupid i hope they never catch him people get killed more by hippos maybe we should kill them

  23. mean fucken croc, this shit is exciting

  24. The short and long of it is as follows, we as humans have an obligation to keep our families safe, if there were a Giant Anything in my area that was a threat to my children or friends, Then I would use every means available to hunt it down and kill it, Matter of fact if it wouldn't land me in Prison for life I would be currently hunting down and killing any child molesters or other predatory people in my area, we are no different then any other animal in the world, Just cause we drive cars and think we are above it all.

    ReplyDelete
  25. A croc has killed 300 people. Humans kill 20,000 human beings each year, not including warfare. A fifth of the world's known mammals, a third of its amphibians, more than a quarter of its reptiles and up to 70% of its plants are under threat of extinction according to the red list of threatened species. Why don't we address the true monster here.
Just because an animal is less intelligent or a lower rung on the food chain does not mean it has less of a right to live. Man is an animal derived from nature, and to an animal such as Gustave, a food source.
And to the above anonymous commenter, perhaps Gustave realizes that humans pose more of a threat to his family, species, habitat and the entire planet than any other animal on earth and has decided that he has an "obligation to keep [his] families safe" and he "would use every means available to hunt it down and kill it".

  26. All you stupid pukes that think this animal should be allowed to roam free and eat hundreds of people need to be tossed in the river with him. Bet you'll wet your liberal pants as he swims towards you. KILL THE BEAST!

    ReplyDelete
  27. Nothing a 460 Weatherby can't fix. All you geniuses who think they should "leave him alone", how about we turn him loose in your neighborhood?

    ReplyDelete
  28. Hypocrites. So easy to say "leave the animal alone" as you sit in your comfy home, safe and secure. Go live in that village and fish the river for a while. Didn't think so. Morons.

    ReplyDelete
  29. This croc is a wonder of nature you dont have to kill it. There is a whole river for those people to use so just skirt where the croc is. The croc is so big it must be very old so it will probably die in the near future soon anyway.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Gustave is an amazing creature indeed, but to say that nothing should be done about this croc which has taken the life's of close to if not more than 300 hundred defenseless villagers, it's just insane. I don't believe in the use of violence, but in this case, every option should be explored, because this croc presents a serious threat to many people in that region. So if it can't be captured and relocated to an isolated spot, then maybe just maybe, put an end to the situation for good.

  31. Opinions and assholes, seems to be a lot here.

  32. I say let the villagers kill them if they want him dead, just because we feel pity on them does not mean we have any right to interfere with the nature of their lives. If they wanted it dead, I am sure they would have found a way by now, those people are not helpless.

    ReplyDelete
  33. why do you people think we have no right to kill him, and he has every right to kill the villagers? its in all our nature as animals to protect ourselves...thats all the villagers want. if they want him gone and dead then so be it. im sure you would want him gone if you were one of the poor villagers as well

    ReplyDelete
  34. Leave the croc alone. There are plenty of villagers to go around.
Most of em come to the U.S. and become democrabs. 300? A drop in the bucket. We really ought to feed that croc mUSLIMS. That's it -feed them murderous bums to the crocs - dat what I say.

  35. A guy who works for the US Forest Service in Alaska was out deer hunting about a year ago when a large grizzly bear charged him from about 50 yards away.

The guy unloaded his 7mm mag semi-automatic rifle into the bear and it dropped a few feet from him.

The big bear was still alive so he reloaded and shot it several times in the head.

The bear was just over one thousand six hundred pounds. It stood 12′ 6″ high at the shoulder, 14′ to the top of his head.

It’s the largest grizzly bear ever recorded in the world.

Of course, the Alaska Fish and Wildlife Commission did not let him keep the big guy as a trophy. Instead, the bear was stuffed, mounted, and placed on display at the Anchorage airport (to remind tourist’s of the risks involved when in the wild).

Based on the contents of the bear’s stomach, the Fish and Wildlife Commission established the bear had killed at least two humans in the past 72 hours.

His last meal was the unlucky nature buff (picture is here if you have the stomach).

The US Forest Service, backtracking from where the bear had originated, found the hiker’s 38-caliber pistol emptied. Not far from the pistol were the remains of the hiker.

The other body has not been found.

Although the hiker fired six shots and managed to hit the grizzly with four shots (they ultimately found four 38 caliber slugs along with twelve 7mm slugs inside the bear’s dead body) it only wounded the bear – and probably angered it.

The bear killed the hiker an estimated two days prior to the bear’s own death by the gun of the Forest Service worker.

Now these were "Americans" they got et by the bear. 300 villagers ... that's not too hard to tolerate.

I say leave the bears AND the crocs alone and STAY HOME with your kids.

  36. if people were really interested in helping the villagers they would help them create a way to pump the water through a pipeline to the village its easy to say kill the crocodile but if people as the smarter of the 2 species hasn't figured out a way to keep from going to the river in the first place (example) pumping water through pipes with or without filters or...with water nearby the existance of an underground water reserve or river would be present have the idiots just dig a well there are millions of animals and plants the kill millions of humans every day its all a part of life ,yes its tragic that 1 croc killed almost if not more than 300 people but that is his nature it IS an animal after all well being the more intelligent species should figure out solution to the basic problem here ...getting water to the village so the inhabitants dont have to risk the river and if you cant agree about that than go shoot yourselves because your wasting oxygen

  38. WAYS TO SOLVE THIS PROBLEMS:

STEP 1: Talk to the crocs to stop eating our babies so we will come in Peace!

STEP 2: While the crocs are at meeting for the confirmation on our offer, PREPARE FIREARMS AND EXPLOSIVES.

STEP 3: If they refuse, Kill all of them AND SKIN THEM ALIVE FOR BAGS FOR FASHION!!!

    ReplyDelete
  39. According to what I've read about Gustave, they've shot him, stabbed him, even thrown grenades at him, but he keeps on tickin. The reason is that even with a regular 14 foot croc, their hide is so tough that a sawed off shotgun at close range can potentially bounce off if shot at an angle. Can you imagine what a 30 foot croc's armor thick hide can repel? Kill or not it just goes to show that God has created some pretty impressive creatures with even more impressive capabilities.

  40. hi. i love all of you. you guys are fantastic! going through all the threads i have been enlightened about statistics some have gone through the trouble to post and opinions a few others have varying from environmental concerns and community awareness of foreign demographics to warped hate for opposing religions as well as extractions of different tales which is used to draw comparison to determining the fate that should befall the topic matter i.e jumbo croc. the crocodile expert views are also uncannily educating. my question is.. why debate letting live (in this case: mega croc) or killing in here? we live in a world filled with the compassionate and the merciless. one end of the spectrum holds the extreme environmentalist tree huggers while the other hails the trigger happy rednecks. why pass sentence or life-line to a croc in africa? if you know which camp you belong to then sign up for your local wildlife or community volunteer group or get your firearms from your local departmental store. dont like the laws in your state or country? pay a visit to your state representative and trash out your insightful thoughts like you did on this site. not getting a response? go hug an animal or a tree or plant a few bullets into the living being that you deem does not have a right to live. what jurisdictions all of your opinions hold in africa won't count for jack, excluding the ones who actually are from africa. save something.. or kill it.. doesn't really matter.. unless you really mean it. forget about the croc in africa(unless you are from africa) and go take a walk in your neighborhood and see whatever it is you want to save or kill.

    ReplyDelete
  41. if you go in the water and you are attacked/killed you have only yourself to blame. you knew the risks, but it didn't stop you. if you don't want to get eaten/attacked or killed, stay out of the water

  42. I would have loved to have seen that big croc eat that woman trying to catch him. They wanna get rid of him? Get Troy Landry from Louisiana to go down there and catch him... Whoo boy! A little bit of rope, a big hook and a some rotten chicken and we got us one big boy! Shoot him in the back of the head with a .22 and start to skinning!

  43. Re-locating it doesn't really look like an option. Kill anything that poses a threat to yourself, family or friends.

    ReplyDelete
  44. don't you think they tried to kill it, this crocs have many scars, bullet wound and spears, they said it been shot many time do you know how thick the skin of this beast is must be at least 3" thick with scales all over is body

    ReplyDelete
  45. Cant believe people are actually asking for the beast to be killed. You are so afraid that even the slightest inkling of a threat and you want to go to war.. you lot must be the americans! Anything unusual and you shit in your pants. Saw it when i was visiting once. Man walking on street.. its so unusual.. lets panic and pull of the road and go screaming in the other direction.

As Greg and another anonymous said, Identify the true killer here. Its not the croc. He is doing what he is programmed to do. Since we are so much smarter, shouldnt we find ways to keep away from him using alternate methods to use the water etc.,?

People who think natures beasts should be eliminated just because they present a threat when WE ENCROACH on their territory; should be shot. Or better still.. sent to deal with the beast themselves.. unarmed ofcourse. Mano-a-mano so to speak.

    ReplyDelete
  46. @croc_fan-- Gustave is reportedly 23ft long. So quite a bit smaller than the world record for his species. I would love to see him live long enough to beat that record.

  47. why dont they just keep it in a high security zoo? i agree, it is a threat to all those living near it, but it is a truly magnificent beast! and although it would cost a lot to keep, the visitor attraction would be massive easily paying for it. given a really big enclosure, shared with nothing else, i think it would be a better solution.

    ReplyDelete
  48. sorry, i have only just finished watching the vid, and saw that he wasnt captured, so i take back my above comment, the one right above this about high security zoos.

  49. i hope gustav exists and is still alive, but like most shit on tv, i think this is... well bullshit (to a certain degree). killed 300 people, yeah maybe ~300 people have been killed by crocs in that region, but by crocs in general, notjust 'gustav'. as for those who want to shoot the croc, what the f**k, go back to suckin your mama's titties you f**kin dumbshit rednecks

  50. oh yeah, there are ~6.5billion dirty little disease ridden people living on this little planet which we share with millions of other species. there may only be 10-20 gustav sized crocs left, and by around 2050 there will be close to 10billion, stinkin little f**ckin people, half of which will probably be greasy, grossly obese fatf**cks. why the f**k do we value every single human life so much? someone please put forward a pathetic, humanistic we have to save the those less fortunate than us bullshit argument please.

  51. Steve Irwin did the Discovery episode on this Croc. In the name of nature preservation we should save this animal and relocate it to a part of africa that is not populated by human beings. And they made a movie about this croc called **Prime Evil**

Steve Irwin said we need to preserve animals of this size and magnatude, as it is a last survivor of the pre era. So I say move it and let it do what it wants.

Did we all forget the things the Irwins did, or did Steve die in vain to make people realize that animals are all misunderstood!

  52. Killing this very large croc is a very bad idea. Because this maybe the largest crocodile in the world right now. There isn't too many large crocs these days. The approperiate thing would be to capture it and release it back in an environment far from human beings. Every living thing needs a source of food and if there's no food around then humans are a source of food for wild animals.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Hi
There is nothing wrong with croc inhabiting this planet the thing wrong with this planet is it's inhabited by humans, delet them and the world would be a better place any way croc's eat humans and humans eat animals what is the difference

live a happy life and leave animals alone

  54. hmm, if it was in my backyard id kill it and eat it...., if it was in my neibors backyard id wait till it killed him, then kill it, its all about teritory and enforcing it. if it isnt in my backyard, i dont have an opinion on what to do with it. unless you live in the crocs teritory your opinion is worthless. it it was supposed to be dead it would be, hell they prolly worship the damn thing.
Yea its neat, intresting. But so was your first peice of a$$. everything thats good is only good for people, everything thats bad is only bad for people. that crocs got no more right to life than the opposume you ran over the other day.

You cant effing blame the croc for doing what is in hes instinct, and humans should be smarter in that way and HAVE COMMON SENSE+some instinct. Besides if a person were unloading a straight line of bullets, would you walk into that line? NO
SO EFF OFF THIS CROC, otherwise dont comment!

  62. I'm all for preserving what nature makes and this crocodile is a prime example of how beautiful these animals can be. But, we've gotta realize something once crocs start killing people they are being a danger to those who are living with this croc, i think we should relocate to where there would be little to no human contact that way no more humans will be killed. Killing it is too extreme we got to preserve it and study it to figure out how old it is, what happens when a alligator here in the us starts killing people, we most of the time relocate away from people that way they arent a danger to anyone else. Thats what we should do with this croc, although capturing it will the "funnest" part of it considering how big its supposed to be.

  67. Good thing they captured it instead of killing it , if they killed it that would be cruel... and just to say they had to decide between killing it or putting it in captivity, they did a little test and made it barf out what's inside its stomach and there was absolutely no human remains in its stomach , so theres a good chance its not a human killer.
